Garden 2006: In The Beginning

The other day I took some before photos of what I hope will be a wonderful garden area soon.
There are several different little areas that will be like individual garden rooms with any luck. Although some of them will feature similar plants due to location, soil, etc., there are some that will vary greatly for the same reasons. I have not made any definite plans yet as to what I will plant, although I am hoping to usenatives as much as possible. I add here that garden accessories are just as much a part of the makeover as the plant in my book and so will be included here. I will break it down into different zones for recording purposes.

Zone 1: has an existing palm tree, a Christmas bush and full sun.

Other features of this spot are its location and the concrete around the edges for potential container additions....

Zone 2: Just across the path from zone 1 this garden has a built up garden along garage wall featuring a Jade tree and some sort of succulent yet to be identified (bless the web and the small town nurseries it soon will be).

Zone 3
: The Veggie Patch!
A fair bit of work to be done here, but no problem. I have seeds started in the greenhouse so I have a few weeks to prepare this ground. Stay tuned for info on what gets planted ( a regular garden idol-what plant will make the final cut....).

as you can see there is a lot to be turned over and sorted out but already has support for beans/ peas etc.

Zone 4
: Main Outdoor eating/entertaining area
This area has heaps of potential, I am thinking maybe native in the little strip, and herbs up the end near the back door (easy access to kitchen), as I use a lot of fresh herbs. I am still saddened at the lovely Greek oregano plant that got left in the ground at the old place. Also a nice big sail cloth for shade (although it would have to be easily put up and down due to afternoon sea breezes that can get a bit fresh)

Zone 5
: this is a little damp type area full of succulents and home to the greenhouse (for the time being). It might be a good spot for the mint as it can be thirsty,
but I have no ideas yet. It can also be very slippery, and I don’t have a photo of me going for a sixer because I didn’t know this..... It also is the home to the outside dunny/shower ( for keeping the sand outside)
